1. Import instructions

To prevent system lags when loading large images as placemark attachments, you can import the attached images to custom maps. This way, the map browsing experience is tremendously optimized.

2. Procedure

Find the placemark on the map, then click the image-20260720154501331 button. In the [Placemark Settings] dialog box, click [Set Attachments]. In the [Placemark Attachment Settings] dialog box, select [Show on Map], and click [Display Settings]. In the [Placemark Attachment Display Settings] dialog box, select [Image Zooms with Map], set the map level, and click [OK].

If you need to adjust the image position or zoom ratio, you can select [Determine Location by Relation Point] and click [Relation Point Settings] in the lower-left corner. For more information, see the help document “Import custom maps by using relation points.”

On the main UI, choose [Custom Maps] > [Custom Map Management].

In the [Custom Map Management] dialog box, click [Add] and select [Add Custom Map] from the drop-down list.

In the dialog box that appears, set the parameters and click [OK]. The added map layer is displayed in the custom map list.

★ Parameters:

① Map ID: a unique ID number assigned to each custom map, ranging from 200 to 999.

② Map Name: the name of the map displayed in the custom map list.

③ Max Level: the highest display level of this map.

④ Projection Type: Select [Mercator Global].

⑤ Time Type: Select [Single-Temporal] or [Multi-Temporal (Historical Images)] as needed. For more information about multi-temporal images, see the help document “How to add multi-temporal (historical) images to a custom map”.

⑥ For other parameters, you can keep the default values.

In the [Custom Map Management] dialog box, select the custom map and click [Manage Images].

In the [Custom Image Management] dialog box, select [Import Image] for the [Operation Type] parameter, select [Import via Placemark Attachments Displayed on Map] for the [Import Method] parameter, and then click [Select] next to [Placemark Attachments]. Select one or more placemarks to which the required images are attached and click [OK]. Click [Start] to start importing.

After the import is completed, click [Yes].

On the main UI, switch to the custom map that is added, and you can view the imported images.image-20260720145157742

QubiMap supports importing TPK files as custom maps. The procedure is as follows:

1. Generate a TPK file in ArcGIS

In ArcGIS, TPK files can be generated from TIFF, PNG, and JPEG image files and SHP vector files.

In this example, the data to be exported from ArcGIS is shown in the following figure:

Choose [Customize] > [ArcMap Options]. In the [ArcMap Options] dialog box, click the [Sharing] tab. In this tab, select [Enable ArcGIS Runtime Tools], click [Apply], and then click [OK].

Choose [File] > [Share As] > [Tile Package].

In the [Tile Package] dialog box, select [Save package to file] and set the storage directory.

Switch to [Tile Format]. Set the [Tile Scheme], [Tile Format], and [Highest Level of Detail] parameters.

Tile Scheme: We recommend that you keep the default value. Currently, QubiMap only supports importing TPK files that use the Web Mercator projection.

Tile Format: You can select PNG, JPEG, and MIXED.

Highest Level of Detail: The value starts from 0. If you set it to 12, the corresponding tile level is 11.

Switch to [Item Description]. Enter the summary and tags. Other fields are optional.

Click [Analyze]. The system automatically analyzes the map data. If any error messages appear, resolve the issues. Warnings can be skipped.

After the analysis is completed, click [Share] → [Yes] to save the TPK file. Then, click [OK].

You can view the generated TPK file in the specified directory.

2. Import the TPK file to QubiMap

On the main UI of QubiMap, choose [Custom Maps] > [Custom Map Management]. In the dialog box that appears, click [Import TPK].

In the [Import TPK] dialog box, enter the map name, click [Select] to select the TPK file to be imported, and click [Open].

Min Level and Max Level: The system automatically retrieves the levels of the TPK file. You do not need to modify the values.

Coordinate Type: Set the value based on the projection type of the TPK file.

Image Type: You can select [Ordinary Map] or [Imagery]. Ordinary Map: Select this option if the imported map is a vector map. Imagery: Select this option if the imported map is aerial imagery or satellite imagery.

After you set the parameters, click [Start] to import the data.

After the import is completed, click [OK]. Then, you can switch to the added custom map to view the imported data.

To use offline navigation, you need to download the map from the Internet and plan your route in advance. Route searching requires an online connection, but navigation itself does not; as long as GPS is enabled, you can navigate without using data. However, if you need to search for a new route, an Internet connection is required, which will then consume data.

You can press the Home key to switch the QubiMap app to the background. In this mode, the system determines whether to disconnect from the Internet and disable GPS positioning (both are power-consuming) based on the system settings such as [Background Location], [Keep Online in Background], and whether track recording is enabled. To start track recording, you must also enable [Background Location]; otherwise, once the phone screen is locked, the recording stops.

Route searching requires an Internet connection, which consumes a small amount of data. During voice navigation, no network is needed. If you deviate from the planned route, a message will appear asking whether you want to re‑navigate. If you tap [Yes], the device will connect to the Internet to obtain a new route.

The following two positioning services are available: GPS positioning and network-assisted positioning.

GPS positioning offers high accuracy, typically within 10 meters.

To use GPS positioning, you need to be in open spaces; it may not take effects indoors due to weak satellite signals.

Network-assisted positioning has an accuracy range of approximately 50-5000 meters, depending on factors such as nearby Wi-Fi and cell tower signals.

Network-assisted positioning requires the Internet access and can be used indoors.

When your iPhone cannot obtain a GPS location, the system automatically switches to network-assisted positioning. In this case, the accuracy may be compromised. With strong Wi-Fi hotspot signals nearby, the location can be accurate to within about 50 meters; however, if no Wi-Fi hotspots are available, the error may extend to several hundred meters or even a few kilometers.

JPG format uses lossy compression, resulting in the smallest file size. PNG format uses lossless compression. BMP files are the largest in size, as they are uncompressed.

You can view the offline map data by entering offline browsing mode. On the main UI, choose [System] > [Offline Map browsing]. The areas with the map data downloaded can be viewed normally. If the map data has not been downloaded, the word “Offline” is displayed on the map window.

1) Mobile device:

​ Tap [More] → [Data Management] → [Map Data Management]. On the [Map Data Management] page, tap [Check Updates]. If you need to update the map data, tap [Update Map].

2) PC:

​ Option 1: Choose [System] > [Data Management] > [Map Data Management]. In the [Map Data Management] dialog box, click [Check Updates]. If you need to update the map data, click [Update Map].

​ Option 2: Choose [Operations] > [Go to Current Map Website]. Compare the map on the website with the map in QubiMap. If there are differences, you can right-click on the map in QubiMap and select [Refresh] to update the map data.

QubiMap supports sharing custom map layers via QR codes. This article describes how to add a custom map by scanning the QR code shared by your friend.

1. PC

Choose [Custom Maps] > [Custom Map Management]. In the dialog box that appears, click [Scan QR Code].

Select your map QR code file, and click [Open]. In the message that appears, click [Import].

Close the [Custom Map Management] dialog box, and select the added map from the [Custom Maps] drop-down list to view it.

2. Mobile device

On the main UI, tap [Scan] on the top to scan the QR code. In the message that appears, tap [OK] → [Close].

You can only scan one QR code each time.

Tap the Image 1 button in the upper right corner, and select [Custom Maps]. On the [Custom Maps] page, select the added map to view it.
